Southern Shores: A Tropical Coffee Cocktail

A crushable Espresso Martini meets Jungle Bird.

“This cocktail was inspired by dreams of summer beach days in the midst of winter,” says Tera Richardson, head bartender of Elk St. Tavern. “I wanted something crushable and refreshing that gave people a taste of the beautiful days to come.” She describes this cocktail as a cross between an Espresso Martini and a Jungle Bird where she replaces the tropical classic’s Campari with coffee liqueur while bumping up the tropical notes with passion fruit liqueur.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. white rum
  • 3/4 oz. coffee liqueur
  • 1/2 oz. passion fruit liqueur
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz. fresh pineapple juice
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine-mesh strainer
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:roasted coffee beans

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a shaker, shake to chill and foam, double strain over a large ice cube. Garnish with 3 coffee beans.
