When one of the regulars at Apis Restaurant and Apiary in Austin couldn’t choose between three classic cocktails—the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and Sidecar—bartender Chelsea Carter invented this mashup on the fly by using the best components of each.
1 oz. rye whiskey
1 oz. Cognac
½ oz. dry curaçao
½ oz. sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 dashes Regan’s orange bitters
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
Garnish: lemon twist
Pour all of the ingredients into a mixing glass and stir with ice to chill. Strain into a rocks glass over a single large ice cube, then garnish.
