19th-Century Whiskey Daisy Bourbon Heritage Month

Chartreuse brightens up this 19th-century classic.

There are several incarnations of the 19th-century Daisy—some sweetened with fruit syrups or orgeat, others with liqueurs. This version brightens bourbon’s richness with the herbal touch of Chartreuse.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 dash fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 oz. simple syrup (1:1)
  • 1/4 oz. yellow Chartreuse
  • 1/2 oz. chilled soda water
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:cocktail
  • Garnish:sliced strawberry

Preparation

Shake the first 5 ingredients with ice. Add the soda to the shaker, strain the cocktail into a chilled glass, then garnish.
