Pisco takes the lead in this velvety-smooth holiday cocktail.

Vaina is a traditional holiday drink in Chile, often combining cognac, port, chocolate liqueur, powdered sugar, and egg yolk. In his delicious take on the classic, Juan Bautista Zambrano uses a base of pisco and sweetens the mix with cinnamon syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1¾ oz. aged pisco
  • ¾ oz. ruby port
  • ¾ oz. crème de cacao
  • 1 oz. cinnamon syrup (1:1)
  • 1 egg yolk (pasteurized if you like)
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine strainer
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:grated cinnamon

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to an ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously until chilled and frothy. Double strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish.
