The Rusty Nail From Covina

covina rusty nail

“The Rusty Nail is one of my favorite classic stirred Scotch drinks,” says Covina bartender Caleb James. To liven the drink up, he combines two types of Scotch—Monkey Shoulder and Talisker 10—with the requisite Drambuie to make a version that’s “simple, smoky and delicious.”

2 oz. Monkey Shoulder Scotch
½ oz. Talisker 10
½ oz. Drambuie
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash orange bitters
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
Glass: rocks
Garnish: orange peel

Stir all of the ingredients together in a mixing glass with ice, then strain into a rocks glass with 1 large ice cube. Garnish.

Caleb James, Covina, New York City
