An Italian amaro adds a shade of spice to this Old Fashioned twist.

Wisconsin is known for its affinity for the Brandy Old Fashioned, and in this modern update, orange bitters and Amaro Montenegro deepen the cocktail’s richness.


  • 2 oz. Cognac
  • 1/2 oz. Amaro Montenegro
  • 1/4 oz. Demerara syrup (1:1)
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon
  • Glass:double Old Fashioned
  • Garnish:brandied cherry, orange peel


Add all of the ingredients to mixing glass, stir with ice, then strain into an ice-filled double Old Fashioned glass. Garnish.
