Stretching just over a mile from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, Paris’ Champs-Élysées is the site of parades, New Year’s Eve fêtes, and finals laps in the Tour de France. In cocktail circles, however, the Champs Élysées cocktail known for coming to life with help from two French spirits: Cognac and Chartreuse. “I hadn’t seen many cocktails with Cognac that were refreshing and herbaceous, so the Champs really intrigued me,” says bartender Tommy Stearns, who features a version of the classic at Deep Dive in Seattle. Stearns believes the Champs may benefit from the fame of other Chartreuse-bolstered cocktails like the Last Word and Bijou. “As more people start to enjoy and understand what Chartreuse is and why it’s such a unique and awesome addition to beverages, I think the Champs Élysées will have its time in the sun.”
