The classic El Presidente cocktail can be tricky to perfect, but this modified version of the classic achieves just the right balance.
1 oz. Plantation 3 Stars White rum
½ oz. Plantation Original Dark rum
½ oz. Noilly Prat dry vermouth
4 dashes Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
¼ oz. grenadine
Tools: shaker, strainer
To roll the cocktail, combine ingredients in a shaker tin with ice. Put a strainer over that half of the shaker tin so the ice won’t escape, and strain the ingredients into the other half of the shaker tin. Do this process back and forth several times to chill and aerate the drink (for more on rolling or “throwing” cocktails click here). Once cold, strain the cocktail into a coupe.
