Poolside Gossip: A Summer Spritz

Inspired by summertime memories and photographer Slim Aaron’s iconic midcentury “Poolside Gossip” photo, Alicia Perry, beverage director of San Diego hospitality group CH Projects created this sessionable spritz.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. lemongrass-infused vodka
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. peach liqueur
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 1 strawberry
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
  • 3 oz. Prosecco or sparkling wine
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:wine
  • Garnish:lemon wheel and edible flower

Preparation

Add 1 strawberry to a shaker and muddle. Add the remaining ingredients, except the sparkling wine, to the shaker. Shake with ice, strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish.
Lemongrass VodkaAdd 7 1/2 grams of loose-leaf lemongrass tea to 750ml of vodka or 3 3/4 grams of tea to 375ml of vodka. Allow the mixture to steep for 2 hours. Afterward, strain out the tea.
Note“If the strawberry is in season and huge, you can do a half portion,” says Perry.
