Shade Thrower: A Boulevardier Variation

Looking to create a super-smooth take on the Boulevardier, Freddy Schwenk—co-owner of Geist in Germantown, Nashville replaces Campari with Averna and Aperol.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. bourbon
- 1/2 oz. Averna
- 1/2 oz. sweet vermouth (Geist uses Cocchi Vermouth di Torino)
- 1/4 oz. Aperol
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Tools:strainer
- Glass:Old Fashioned
- Garnish:orange twist
Preparation
Stir all of the ingredients with ice, then strain into a glass filled with a large ice cube, and garnish.
