The Roman Holiday, An Italian Jungle Bird

jungle bird riff

Inspired by an Italian drink made with amaro-soaked coffee beans.

“Spirit guide” Nandini Khaund found inspiration for this recipe in Amaro Meletti’s Art Nouveau café, where the popular “anisetta con la mosca” drink features coffee beans soaked in amaro. The combo of amaro and cold-brew make this autumnal riff on the classic Jungle Bird unforgettable.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Amaro Meletti
  • ¼ oz. Campari
  • ¾ oz. pineapple juice
  • ¾ oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz. cold-brew coffee
  • ¼ oz. demerara syrup
  • Pinch Maldon sea salt
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:cinnamon stick

Preparation

Shake ingredients together with ice. Strain over crushed ice into a rocks glass. Garnish.
