Beautifully bright and refreshing, the Americano cocktail is one of the quintessential low-alcohol drinks. It’s said to have been named after the flurry of American expats who adopted the drink as their favorite during Prohibition. The Americano pictured here was photographed at Litro in Rome.
1 ½ oz. Campari
1 ½ oz. sweet vermouth
Garnish: orange slice
Pour the Campari and vermouth into an ice-filled glass. Top with soda, stir and garnish.
