In this cocktail from Pobrecito, fresh bell pepper and citrus create a bright baseline for vodka and Chartreuse.
1¾ oz. vodka
¼ oz. yellow Chartreuse
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
½ oz. fresh orange juice
½ oz. yellow bell pepper syrup
1 dash orange bitters
1 dash Hellfire Habanero Shrub
Tools: muddler, shaker, strainer, fine strainer
Garnish: basil leaf
Muddle 2 basil leaves in a shaker tin. Add the remaining ingredients and ice. Shake until chilled. Fine strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish.
Yellow Bell Pepper Syrup: Juice 1 yellow bell pepper and combine the juice in a saucepan with equal parts of white sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat, cool, strain into a bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
