Sloe-Groni - Imbibe Magazine Subscribe + Save

Sloe gin replaces sweet vermouth in this simple Negroni riff. “I love Negronis, but sometimes in the summer I want something a little brighter with more acid,” says Robby Nelson of this recipe. “With that in mind, I swapped out the the herbal and vanilla notes of sweet vermouth and used sloe gin instead. The sloe gin has just enough sweetness to balance the gin and Campari, but it also has bright red berry notes and a surprising amount of acid. The flamed orange twist helps bring out the citrus notes in the gin, Campari, and particularly the sloe gin.”

  • 1½ oz. London dy gin
  • ¾ oz. Campari
  • ¾ oz. sloe gin
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:flamed orange twist

Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice, then stir to chill. Strain into a chilled coupe, then garnish.
