Low-proof carrot cocktail from 143 Social

A light and juicy refresher.

With a nod to the Paper Plane, Gabriel Rieben of Jersey City’s 143 Social created this light and juicy low-proof cocktail combining the bittersweet notes of Aperol, grapefruit, and Meletti with the fresh flavors of carrot and tarragon.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Aperol
  • 3/4 oz. fresh carrot juice
  • 1/2 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/4 oz. Meletti Amaro
  • 1/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz. tarragon syrup
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:mint bouquet and grapefruit slice

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake to chill and strain in a glass over ice. Garnish.

Tarragon SyrupSteep 15 grams of fresh tarragon in 20 oz. of water over low-medium heat until it simmers (do not boil). Turn off the heat, add 20 oz. of white sugar, and stir until it fully dissolves. Let the syrup cool for 20 minutes. Fine-strain into a sealable glass jar. Will keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
