Drink of the Week: Don Ciccio & Figli Negroni Bianco Oro

As my colleague Emma Mannheimer reported last week, the category of RTD canned cocktails keeps getting better and better. Beyond these new-school canned options, I’ve also tried some bottled cocktails in recent months that have made my at-home happy hours more effortlessly delicious. Don’t get me wrong, I also find joy in the ritual of stirring a Boulevardier or Martini a la minute, but for those especially hectic days, the simplicity of opening a bottled Negroni feels like a sigh of relief.

One of the newest bottles I’ve been reaching for comes from Washington, D.C.-based Don Ciccio & Figli, which recently debuted the La Perla line of bottles cocktails (plus a canned spritz). I especially like the bracing bitterness of the Negroni Bianco Oro, which features the distillery’s Cinque Aperitivo Bianco (usually available only at the distillery). The bitter orange peel notes of the aperitif align seamlessly with the bright juniper botanicals in the London Dry-style gin, and the semi-sweet housemade vermouth. Pop a rocks glass in the freezer to get it nice and cold, pull a swath of orange peel for a garnish, and pour over fresh ice for pure and simple satisfaction. $45 for a 4-pack, donciccioefigli.com
