Drink of the Week: Something & Nothing Premium Sodas

The holidays are a gastronomical marathon. From cups of cider and hot chocolate to glasses of eggnog and a myriad of festive cocktails, my sugar consumption reaches dangerous, if delicious, levels. But no one wants to feel left out of the celebration, so it’s nice to have options at hand that offer a low-sugar, spirit-free alternative but still feel special. The decidedly grown-up, uniquely flavored sodas from Something & Nothing hit the bullseye.

Entrepreneurs Oliver Dixon and Rupert Pugsley launched the design-forward soda company in the U.K. in 2020 and the U.S. in 2023. The Something & Nothing sodas eschew added sugars or artificial sweeteners, instead leaning on grape juice concentrate and natural fruit juices and extracts for their flavors. Several of their original flavors, including Yuzu, Cucumber, and Hibiscus & Rose have nabbed Great Taste Awards. Their newest release is the Travelcase variety pack, and features some new flavors like Sicilian Lemon Iced Tea and Orange & Mandarin alongside favorites like Pineapple & Pink Grapefruit, and Ginger & Key Lime.

The Something & Nothing sodas fall on the lightly sweet end of the spectrum (about 13 grams of fruit sugar per can). Rather than landing like a sugar bomb, the sodas are light, crisp, and fruit-forward, with a refreshingly dry finish, like a yuletide palate cleanser. And with the added benefit of versatility, the sodas’ fresh flavors lend particularly well to mixing up a spritz or highball in a snap—because it is the holidays after all. $37.95/12-pack, us.somethingandnothing.co
