Drink of the Week: Golden Light Turmeric Tea

Like a warming glow on the horizon of midwinter, the new Golden Light turmeric tea from Smith Teamaker is a welcome remedy for cold weather and dark days. Blended by Smith’s new head teamaker, Ravi Kroesen (one of our 2020 Imbibe 75 People to Watch), the Golden Light is an herbal infusion combining turmeric with sarsaparilla, cardamom, black pepper, lemon oil and manuka honey. “I have fond memories of sipping Golden Milk growing up,” says Kroesen, who attended school in India. “Unlike most turmeric tea blends, which are very ginger-forward, we opted to activate the turmeric with punchy black pepper and rounded it out with vanilla-like sarsaparilla for a sweet, lingering finish.” Try it steeped on its own or mixed with steamed milk for a golden latte. $15.99/box of 15 sachets, $20/4 oz. loose leaf, smithtea.com.
