Taste Test: Nonalcoholic Pilsners - Imbibe Magazine Subscribe + Save

Few beers are as refreshing as crisp, classic pilsners. Thanks to the nonalcoholic (NA) beer boom, there’s no shortage of options that everyone on the porch or at the cookout can enjoy. During the last five years, sales of NA beers were up nearly 160 percent, according to a 2026 Brewers Association report. Whether you’re taking the afternoon or night off, or are into NA for the long haul, there’s a pilsner for you. Here are some of our favorites.

Go Brewing Suspended in a Sunbeam Pils

Aromatic Tettnang hops lead the nose of this award-winning and easy-drinking pilsner from a Naperville, Illinois, alcohol-free brewery. Made with German barley malt, it’s golden in the glass with a fluffy white head. The bright and citrusy flavors make it an ideal porch or picnic beer, and there are subtle floral notes balanced by pleasantly hoppy bitterness. The beer’s name was inspired by Carl Sagan and NASA’s iconic photo of Earth as a “pale blue dot,” and the can design is fittingly celestial. $14.99/6-pack, gobrewing.com

Best Day Brewing Wild American

Launched in March 2026, this American-style pils comes from Best Day Brewing, a Northern California operation devoted to making NA beers with non-GMO and vegan ingredients. Wild American is light and bright with gentle malt aromas, brewed-tea flavors, and a crisp and refreshing finish. Pair yours with tacos, pizza, and anything off the grill; or pop one open to toast the sunset on the closest porch, patio, or fire escape. $13.99/6-pack, bestdaybrewing.com

Oskar Blues Designated Dales NA Pils

In 2024, more than a quarter-century after Dale Katechis first opened the doors to his Southern-accented brewpub in Lyons, Colorado, craft beer pioneer Oskar Blues introduced its first NA beer. The cheekily named Designated Dales is a light-bodied pilsner with lemongrass and Granny Smith apple aromas, plus crisp, malty notes with herby, spicy undertones. With its unassuming flavors and bright finish, it’s easy to drink and to love. $11.99/6-pack, totalwine.com

Untitled Art Italian-Style Pils

Dry-hopped with Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Strata hops, this Italian-style pilsner is more bitter than many others in the category. It’s part of Untitled Art’s FLVR! line devoted to nonalcoholic brewing. Aromatic and refreshing, it has floral and herbaceous notes plus an orchard’s worth of lemon, tangerine, and pineapple flavors. The finish is hoppy and crisp, giving it ample food-pairing potential (think tamales, aloo masala, and pizza). $12.99/6-pack, drinkuntitled.com

Years Original Pilsner

This easy-drinking pilsner from a Midwestern newcomer is bright, crisp, and uncomplicated—exactly what most of us want from a summer beer. It pours golden and frothy, with faint floral, spice, and herbal notes that feel as classic as jeans and a white tee. The clean malt and Zuper Saazar noble hops provide balance and backbone. If you’re looking for something to throw ina beach bag orcrack open onthe porch, consider Years Original Pilsner your answer. $13.99/6-pack, yearsbeer.com

Good Time Brewing Nonalcoholic Pils

Longtime bar pro Michael McFerran founded this NA brewery in upstate New York in 2020 after his son was diagnosed with a heart condition. Its golden pilsner is perfect for patio hangs, cookouts, and any setting accompanied by spicy Thai dishes or steaming bowls of pozole. Bright citrus headlines the aromas and flavors, while dank undertones lend complexity. Made with German pilsner and Vienna malts, the body is rounder than many pilsners, but it all wraps up with a satisfying dry, faintly malty finish. $14.99/6-pack, goodtimebrewing.com
