White Russian Christmas From Sippin’ Santa

A spicy-sweet spin on a classic.

The annual Sippin’ Santa pop-up returns this year with a few new drinks on the menu, including this decadent homage to the classic White Russian. The recipe is spiced up with a dose of Ancho Reyes liqueur, and thickened with cinnamon syrup and sweetened condensed milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 1⁄2 oz. vodka
  • 3⁄4 oz. dark-roast cold brew
  • 3⁄4 oz. canned sweetened condensed milk
  • 1⁄4 oz. Ancho Reyes
  • 1⁄4 oz. cinnamon syrup
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:Old Fashioned
  • Garnish:Grated cinnamon, or a pinch of powdered cinnamon

Preparation

Shake all of the ingredients together in a shaker with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish.

Cinnamon Syrup:
3 cinnamon sticks
1 cup organic cane sugar
8 oz. water

Crush the cinnamon sticks with a mortar & pestle. Place the crushed sticks into a saucepan with the water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved, then cover and simmer on low heat for 2 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and keep covered for at least 2 hours before straining. Bottle, date, and refrigerate. Lasts 1 month, refrigerated.
