Tequila Spritz: A Freezer Door Cocktail

For those times when it’s just too hot to make an effort, Freezer Door Cocktails author J.M. Hirsch shared 75 cocktails that can be built right in the liquor bottle and stored in the freezer. His batched Tequila Spritz is especially perfect for poolside sipping. “This cocktail lives in a happy place somewhere between sangria and an Aperol Spritz,” he writes. For those who prefer it without the tonic water, Hirsch suggests serving it in a coupe that’s filled halfway with crushed ice.

Ingredients

  • 10 oz. blanco tequila
  • 6 3/4 oz. Aperol
  • 6 3/4 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1/4 tsp. orange bitters
  • Tonic water, to serve
  • Glass:wine
  • Garnish:orange slice

Preparation

In a 750ml bottle, combine the tequila, Aperol, sweet vermouth and bitters. Cap the bottle securely, then shake well to mix. Store in the freezer.

To serve, pour into a wine glass filled halfway with ice cubes and an orange slice. Top with tonic water.
