Reverse Manhattan

reverse-manhattan-vertical-crdt-lara-ferroniThe Reverse Manhattan is exactly what the name suggests, with the whiskey-to-vermouth ratio reversed. But perhaps a more appropriate name would be the Original Manhattan, as this was the initial 19th-century construction of the drink. “I love a Reverse Manhattan!” says Sother Teague of New York’s Amor y Amargo. “Great full flavors, without all the punch of a traditional version.”

2 oz. sweet vermouth
1 oz. rye whiskey
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
Glass: cocktail
Garnish: cherry or lemon twist

Stir the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice, strain into a chilled glass and garnish.
