My Kind of Broadway

A bittersweet shakerato-style cocktail.

From Urban Wren in Greenville, South Carolina, this bittersweet cocktail celebrates two Italian drinking pastimes: amari and espresso.


  • 3/4 oz. Cynar
  • 3/4 oz. Cappelletti
  • 3/4 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. brewed espresso
  • 2 drops saline solution (1:1)
  • Splash of soda water
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:coupe or cocktail
  • Garnish:pinch of salt


Pull a shot of espresso. While that’s extracting add 2 drops of saline solution (1:1 salt to water) and the rest of the ingredients to a shaker. Once the espresso is ready, add it to the tin, add ice, and shake. Double strain into a chilled glass and top with a splash of soda water and a pinch of salt.
