Minch’s Lure From Anvil Bar & Refuge

An opportunity to explore the softer side of Scotch.

On some level, most single malt Scotch whiskies carry beguiling flavors of orchard fruit in their character. This cocktail boosts the fruit signal by adding pear brandy (use an unaged eau de vie) and amontillado sherry, with a touch of nuttiness from the addition of almond extract.


  • 1 oz. Highland single malt Scotch whisky
  • 3/4 oz. pear brandy
  • 3/4 oz. amontillado sherry
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup (2:1)
  • 15 drops (1/8 tsp.) almond extract
  • Tools:barspoon, strainer
  • Glass:Nick & Nora
  • Garnish:pear slices


Stir all of the ingredients with ice to chill, then strain into a chilled glass, and garnish.
