Land of Mountains: A Melon Daiquiri

A funky cocktail that’s hard to put down.

Mitch Lyons and Libby Lingua of Phoenix’s Highball Cocktail Bar love a funky Daiquiri, so they created an amped-up version that’s sure to keep you sipping. They combine the sweetness of melon with bright citrus notes and the earthiness of lemongrass and clairin.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. clairin or rhum agricole
  • 1 oz. melon liqueur (Highball uses Aelred Melon L'aperitif)
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 oz. lemongrass shochu
  • 1/4 oz. tangerine syrup (2:1 tangerine juice and simple syrup)
  • 1/4 oz. rich simple syrup (2:1)
  • 5 mint leaves
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine-mesh strainer
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:melon ball and mint sprig

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with 3 ice cubes and shake to chill. Double strain into a coupe; optional to pour it over gently shaved ice.
