Keys Razor: A Spicy Melon Cocktail

Savor the final days of honeydew season with this spicy melon cocktail combining a split-base of mezcal and tequila with honeydew/jalapeño/mint syrup and fresh lime juice.


  • 1 oz. mezcal
  • 1 oz. blanco tequila
  • 3/4 oz. honeydew-jalapeño-mint syrup
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • _________________________
  • Honeydew Jalapeno Mint Syrup
  • 1 cup honeydew
  • 1/4 oz. mint
  • 1/4 oz. jalapeño
  • 16 oz. granulated sugar
  • 8 oz. water
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:highball or sling
  • Garnish:mint


Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into an ice-filled glass, top with ice, and garnish.

Honeydew Jalapeno Mint SyrupRemove the seeds and rind of the honeydew before cutting it into medium chunks. Remove the stem and deseed the jalapeño before chopping it into smaller pieces. Throw all the ingredients into a blender and blend on high. Strain through a chinois. Will keep for 4 days in the refrigerator.
