A White Russian reimagined for a café setting.
Finding inspiration in the classic White Russian cocktail, the team at Grind in Shoreditch reimagined the drink for a café setting by merging vodka and coffee liqueur with steaming-hot oat milk and espresso. Featured in Teddy Robinson’s book Grind, the author writes, “This one’s more of a nightcap than the Espresso Martini—even without dairy it’s still got a big hot cup of cocoa vibe about it.”
Pour the vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, and a dash of cold oat milk into your glass or mug and give it a quick stir. Steam the milk, just like you would when making a coffee. You’re looking for that flat white ‘microfoam’ that’s thicker and lighter than milk, but not the froth you find on a cappuccino. Pour into the glass, as you would for a flat white or latte.
