Kold Brew Americano

Cold-brew and Campari blend seamlessly in this take on the Americano.

Cold-brew has proven a trustworthy companion to Campari in the Negroni, so naturally the boost of coffee also works well in the cocktail’s lower-octane cousin, the Americano. At J & Tony’s in San Diego, they use Modern Times’ Black House Blend for their cold brew, which “introduces a berry fruitiness from Ethiopian coffee and a cocoa caramel backbone from the Sumatra to harmonize with the already bright and bitter Americano while adding an additional layer of depth and complexity,” says lead bartender Will Pidd.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz. cold-brew coffee
  • ¼ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • Club soda, to top
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon
  • Glass:Collins
  • Garnish:orange half wheel

Preparation

Combine the Campari, sweet vermouth, cold-brew coffee, and lemon juice in a Collins glass. Add ice and stir to combine. Top with club soda and garnish.
