While we’re all drinking at home for the foreseeable future, we thought it would be fitting to turn inward for our usual Drink of the Week column and share the drinks our staff is reaching for while inside. This week’s entry comes from digital content editor, Emma Janzen. We’d also love to hear from you, so tell us what you’re drinking right now by using the #imbibegram #drinkoftheweek hashtags on twitter and instagram!
Here in Chicago, where the temps still linger in the 50s, I’m yearning for days warm enough to sit on the patio after work and enjoy cocktail hour. For now, a little liquid sunshine in the form of Fever-Tree’s newest release, a sparkling pink grapefruit soda, is helping scratch the itch. I first tried this new release in a Paloma at Ghost Donkey’s Imbibe 75 party back in February, and now that it has formally hit the market, I plan on stocking up with plenty of bottles for warm-weather sipping. Because it’s made with real fruit juice (from Florida grapefruits), the soda has an even balance of tartness and sweetness, with a lovely pronounced floral quality that makes it a joy to pair with herbaceous blanco tequila and a squeeze of lime.
