Drink of the Week: Pumpkin Spice Latte Nitro by Left Hand Brewing

Last week I may have been savoring every last summer day and blazing sunset. However, I’m also a part of the masses who do a major seasonal overhaul at the first mention of pumpkin spice latte. You can’t blame a former SoCal transplant for anticipating days of cardigans and fall foliage, plus comforting spices in her beverages.

So I was especially excited to try out Left Hand Brewing’s Pumpkin Spice Latte Nitro ale—even though I was wearing denim shorts at the time. Left Hand Brewing out of Longmont, Colorado, may have beat Starbucks to the start of PSL season; the ale came out early August this year, and answers long-awaited pleas from fans of their cult-favorite nitros to make a PSL-flavored beer.

The Left Hand Brewing Pumpkin Spice Latte Nitro mimics the creaminess of an actual milk coffee beverage with the addition of oats and lactose, along with a dark roast supplied by Ozo Coffee. The brewers’ personal spice blend consists of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice, which complements the toasted malt and pumpkin as an effortless classic combo.

If you catch me pouring a can of this ale into my morning coffee mug, you can’t blame me—the taste is uncanny to the pumpkin spice latte itself.
