Atlanta’s Bar Mercado, inspired by Madrid’s Mercado de San Miguel, brings regional Spanish tapas to the local food scene, and bar manager Colton Wright carries over that spirit to the cocktail list with this Basquet Case recipe. Bitter notes of China-China and Bruto Americano offset the funkiness of sparkling Basque cider.
1 oz. gin
¾ oz. Bruto Americano
½ oz. Bigallet China-China
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
¼ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
2 oz. sparkling Basque cider
Tools: shaker, strainer
Garnish: orange twist
Combine the first 5 ingredients in an ice-filled shaker and shake until chilled. Strain into a glass, top with cider and garnish.
