This crisp, earthy spirit-free cocktail lives up to its name.
To accompany her winning cocktail recipe, Sip Du Soleil, for the Charleston Wine + Food 2020 festival, bartender Nikki Fairman created this vibrant spirit-free cocktail. Combining alcohol-free Seedlip, carrot juice and turmeric syrup, the Basically a Salad lives up to its name with a crisp, earthy flavor.
Shake the first 4 ingredients with ice until well chilled. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass over fresh ice, then top with soda water and garnish.
Turmeric Syrup: In a medium saucepan add 2 cups water, 2 cups granulated sugar, and 2 medium pieces of fresh turmeric root, finely grated. Bring the mixture to a low simmer, then remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer, then bottle and refrigerate for use within 1 month.
