French 75 Riff: The Woman in Gold

Old Tom gin brings a malty edge to this twist on the classic.

Traditionally made with gin or Cognac (Cognac being the classic choice), the French 75 gets an elegant update when Old Tom enters the equation.

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz. Old Tom gin
  • ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • ½ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
  • Champagne or Prosecco
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:coupe

Preparation

Combine gin, lemon and syrup together in a shaker with ice. Shake for at least 15 seconds, and strain into a coupe glass. Top with sparkling wine.
