The classic Cosmo recipe gets upgraded with a housemade cranberry cordial.
1¾ oz. citrus vodka (Spoon and Stable uses North Shore Sol)
1 oz. cranberry cordial
½ oz. curaçao (Spoon and Stable uses Pierre Ferrand)
½ oz. fresh lime juice
Tools: shaker, strainer
Garnish: flamed orange peel
Shake all the ingredients with ice to chill and strain into a chilled glass. Carefully flame an orange peel over the drink and use as garnish.
Cranberry Cordial: In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of frozen cranberries, 2 cups of sugar,
1 cup of fresh lime juice, 1 cup of water, 5 cinnamon sticks, 5 star anise, 10 cardamom pods, 3 whole cloves, 1 Tbsp. of salt, and the zest of 3 oranges, and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, then let the cordial cool to room temperature. Fine strain and bottle for use. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
