Drink of the Week: Deschutes Jubelale

Deschutes Jubelale
For three decades, the Deschutes Jubelale has been capturing the warm and fuzzy feelings of the holiday season. This year marks the 30th release of the winter beer, and the malt bill, including Crystal, Pale, and roasted barley, provides a strong, toasty backbone complemented by just the right amount of hoppy bite. With flavors of cocoa, toffee, dried fruit and spice, the beer’s warming qualities are in full effect, but at 6.7 percent, it’s perfectly easy-drinking. Since 1995, the labels have been designed by an artist from the Pacific Northwest, and this year mixed-media artist MaryLea Harris created four different snowflake designs to adorn the bottles. Only distributed until the end of December, this seasonal could be gone before the snow melts, so get it while you can. See deschutesbrewery.com for distribution.
