Blackthorn Cocktail

One of the few classic cocktails to highlight Irish whiskey.

With roots dating back to 19th-century New Orleans, the Blackthorn cocktail is one of the few classics to highlight Irish whiskey. Here’s how they make it at Lazy Bird in Chicago.

Ingredients

2 oz. Irish whiskey
1/2 oz. dry vermouth
1/2 oz. sweet vermouth
2 dashes Bogart's bitters (or sub with Angostura)
1 dash absinthe

Tools:barspoon, strainer
Glass:rocks
Garnish:lemon twist

Preparation

Stir all of the ingredients with ice, then strain into a glass filled with fresh ice, and garnish.
