Put your leftover cranberry sauce to use in this fresh sparkling cocktail.

This sparkling cocktail gets saucy, thanks to several barspoons of a favorite holiday condiment. “It’s the perfect welcome drink at any holiday soirée,” says Los Angeles bartender David Delaney Jr. “It’s light and refreshing, and who doesn’t want to kick off the night with some bubbly?”

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. gin
  • ½ oz. simple syrup, or to taste
  • ½ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 2 barspoons cranberry sauce (use homemade or the highest-quality you can find)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 oz. sparkling wine
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine strainer
  • Glass:flute
  • Garnish:2-3 fresh cranberries

Preparation

Combine all ingredients, except the sparkling wine, in a shaker and shake with ice. Double strain into a chilled flute, top with sparkling wine and garnish.

Tip: The sweetness of cranberry sauce can vary depending on your recipe, so be sure to adjust the amount of syrup you use based on your preferred level of sweetness.
