Maple-Cranberry Bourbon Smashed

Fresh cranberries take the foreground in this batched wintry smash.

3/4 cup fresh cranberries
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 Tbsp. fresh orange zest
2 oz. fresh orange juice
6 fresh cinnamon sticks
9 oz. bourbon
Tools: saucepan, muddler, barspoon
Glass: rocks
Garnish: fresh cinnamon stick

Combine all ingredients, except bourbon, in a saucepan, then lightly muddle and bring to a boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat, cover and cool to room temperature. Divide the cooled mixture between six ice-filled glasses. Add 1 1/2 oz. of bourbon to each glass, stir to combine and garnish. Serves 6.
