Whipped and Swirled: A Banana Pudding Cocktail

Ricky Dolinsky and Patrick Smith of The View at New York Marriott Marquis wanted visitors to experience some of the city’s iconic foods from their bar stool. Their first creation? A banana pudding cocktail inspired by Magnolia Bakery’s iconic dessert. Collaborating with the bakery, they used “a blend of dark spirits and amaro combined with rich banana and condensed milk to evoke that craveable moment of treating yourself,” says Smith.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. banana condensed milk
  • 1/2 oz. Armagnac
  • 1/2 oz. scotch
  • 1/2 oz. dark rum
  • 1/4 oz. banana liqueur
  • 1/4 oz. Averna amaro
  • ____________________________
  • Banana Condensed Milk
  • 1/2 cup banana purée (Boiron or Perfect Puree)
  • 14 oz. condensed milk (1 can)
  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:whipped cream, crushed vanilla wafers

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish.
Banana Condensed MilkCombine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend on low until smooth. Yields about 3 cups or enough for about 8 cocktails. Will keep for 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator (the vodka acts as a preservative).
