Grandpa Irv’s Espresso Old Fashioned

Fairgrounds founder Michael Schultz created this Espresso Old Fashioned as an homage to his grandfather. (Note the small amount of bitters means the drink is not 100% alcohol-free).

1 shot espresso
½ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
5 dashes walnut bitters
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: rocks
Garnish: orange peel

Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake to chill. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can swap out the espresso for a strong cold-brew coffee.
