The Last Spritz

The Last Word Spritz

The classic Last Word transformed into an easy-drinking refresher.

Transforming the classic, equal-parts Last Word into a refreshing spritz, this recipe replaces gin and lengthens the drink with soda water. “It’s light, bright, and herbaceous, with a touch of sweetness from the cherry liqueur,” says Danny Webber, general manager at aperitivo bar Capri Club in LA’s Eagle Rock neighborhood. “It’s a great lighter cocktail for warm afternoons.”

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. maraschino liqueur
  • 1 oz. Chartreuse (or other herbal liqueur such as Centum Herbis or Génépy)
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • Soda water to top
  • Glass:Collins
  • Garnish:cherry

Preparation

Add the first 3 ingredients to a Collins glass with ice. Top with soda water and garnish.
