Styles Upon Styles: A Low-ABV Highball

A simple summery low-proof option.

“This is such a simple build, but delicious in summer, and one of my all-time favorite low-ABV options,” says Bar Miriam owner Brian Claudio Smith. Pineau des Charentes—a French aperitif made by combining fresh grape juice (otherwise destined to become Cognac) with fresh eau de vie—is key to this drink’s delicate complexity.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. Pineau des Charentes (Bar Miriam uses Park)
  • Chilled Topo Chico (or other sparkling water)
  • Tools:barspoon
  • Glass:Collins
  • Garnish:3 lemon wheels

Preparation

Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled glass and gently stir to combine. Garnish with lemon wheels lining the inside of the glass.
