Amari and cold-brew coffee combine to create an ideal dessert cocktail.
“Amari and cold-brewed coffee have similar flavor profiles, and they struck me as a great dessert-cocktail combo,” says New York City bartender Brandon Duff. “What’s better than a little whipped cream on top to bring it all together?” We couldn’t agree more. Equal parts pick-me-up and tuck-me-in, this layered cocktail is the perfect conclusion to a holiday celebration.
Combine the cold-brewed coffee and half of the simple syrup with a drop or two of the heavy cream in a shaker. Shake. Pour into a double rocks glass over a single large ice cube. Add the Fernet as a float on top. Whip the remaining heavy cream and simple syrup. Float the cream on top of the Fernet and garnish.
Tip: To make nicely defined layers, make sure your ingredients are well chilled and pour the Fernet gently over the back of a spoon, so it floats rather than sinks.
