Rye whiskey shines in this classic cocktail.
Standard versions of the classic Stone Fence cocktail typically call for rum or brandy, but New Orleans bartender J’Nai Angelle likes tapping the potential of rye whiskey, and rejiggering the proportions to let the whiskey shine through. “The dry palate of rye whiskey can cut through the crispness of the apple cider, and those flavors mesh really well with the bitters,” she says.
Combine all of the ingredients in an ice-filled glass, then stir to combine.
