South Indian Yogurt Cooler

An aromatic mix of herbs, chilies, and ginger gives this yogurt cooler layers of complexity. Fresh curry leaves and asafetida can be found at Asian and specialty markets. 

Ingredients

Yield:4
  • 1 1/2 cups full-fat plain yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro (leaves and stems)
  • 4 fresh curry leaves
  • 1 tsp. minced fresh ginger
  • 1 small Indian green chili or serrano chili, finely chopped
  • Pinch of asafetida (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup ice cubes
  • Tools:blender
  • Glass:small tumbler

Preparation

Combine all of the ingredients except ice in a blender and blend until combined. Add ice cubes and blend until they’re broken and integrated but still chunky. Serve immediately.
