Salinitini: A Savory Martini

For a savory martini without the olive brine, Courtney McKamey, beverage director of Weather Up Bars, splits vermouth with manzanilla sherry and seasons the cocktail with MSG.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. gin
  • 3/4 oz. blanc vermouth
  • 3/4 oz. manzanilla sherry
  • 10 drops MSG saline
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:castelvetrano olive, Gibson onion, and caperberry

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to an ice-filled mixing glass. Stir to combine and chill. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish.

MSG SalineAdd 4 Tbsp. of salt and 4 Tbsp. of MSG to 16 oz. of hot water. Mix until fully combined. Store in a sealable container. Will keep in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks.
