Rockin’ Like Bamboo Cocktail

A bittersweet update on the classic cocktail.

At New York’s Ward III, bartender Greg Moreno elevates the classic Bamboo cocktail with the addition of an amaro and an aperitif. “The Rockin’ Like Bamboo is full of complexity and depth, like a Manhattan or Martinez, but still has a lower ABV, so you probably won’t misplace your cell phone after knocking back a few,” says Moreno.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. dry vermouth (Moreno uses Dolin)
  • 3⁄4 oz. blanc vermouth (Moreno uses Dolin)
  • 3⁄4 oz. Lustau East India Solera sherry
  • 1⁄2 oz. Cynar
  • 1⁄4 oz. Byrrh
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:orange twist

Preparation

In a mixing glass, combine all of the ingredients with ice. Stir to chill, strain into a chilled coupe, then garnish.
