Old Money: An Equal-Parts Cocktail

Old Money Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar Aspen

Pear, lemon, and honey complement a split base of tequila and mezcal.

For a late-summer refreshment, shake up this simple equal-parts cocktail. Ben Siegel, bartender at Aspen’s Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar, compares it to an autumn pear cobbler. The optional edible silver flakes garnish are a nod to Aspen’s mining history.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 oz. mezcal
  • 3/4 oz. reposado tequila
  • 3/4 oz. St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz. honey syrup
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:pear slices (optional: edible silver flakes)

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake to chill, then strain over crushed ice in a glass. Garnish.

TipFor a little heat, add a thumbnail-size slice of habanero to the shaker and muddle it before adding the other ingredients and shaking.
