Old Cuban Riff: The Old Mexican

A tequila-based twist on the classic. 

For this take on the Old Cuban cocktail, Graham Warner welcomes tequila to the glass and rounds out the flavors with a few dashes of chocolate bitters.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. blanco tequila
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. turbinado syrup (1:1)
  • 4 dashes chocolate bitters
  • 4-5 mint leaves
  • Dry sparkling wine, to top (roughly 1 oz.)
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine strainer
  • Glass:Old Fashioned
  • Garnish:small dried rose bud

Preparation

Shake all the ingredients with ice, then fine strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish.
