Northern Frosty Lights: An Espresso Martini Riff

For its Apres Ski holiday event, Ranger Station in Atlanta crowns its Espresso Martini riff with a festive layer of peppermint foam.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. cold-brew coffee
  • 1/2 oz. coffee liqueur (Ranger Station uses Mr. Black)
  • 1/2 oz. creme de cacao (Ranger Station uses Giffard)
  • 1/4 oz. demerara syrup
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine-mesh strainer, blender, milk frother
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:peppermint foam, 3 coffee beans

Preparation

Add all the ingredients to a shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Double strain into the glass. Top with the peppermint foam and garnish.
Peppermint FoamCombine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of simple syrup, 1 cup of creme de menthe, 1/4 cup of white sugar, and 1/2 Tbsp. of xanthan gum in a blender and blend for 1 to 2 minutes. When ready to serve, froth it up with a milk frother. Will keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
